About FŌM

The origin of FŌM is one hundred percent based on how my brain processes scent and my obsession for any and all skincare products.

Scents immediately trigger memories for me. Every time I smell an orange I am instantly flooded with memories of my Grandma. Not all smells are as delicious as an orange, but even unpleasant scents take me to a certain time and place.  I am the weirdo in the laundry and cleaning aisles at the grocery store smelling every item I can get me hands on. I have always said I wish they made Clorox bleach scented body wash. I know that chemicals are not good for you, but the scent of bleach, pine or lemon cleaner release a ton of endorphins in my brain.  I told you I am a weirdo.

In the 7th grade I was at a friend's house and we went in her older sister's room and she had several bottles and jars of skincare. One of those bottles was Oil of Olay lotion. She told us that you had to use moisturizer so you wouldn't get wrinkles. Even though I was in middle school that stuck in my brain, and on that day a skincare junkie was born.

Fast forward a few decades.

I have an amazing sister in law named Allison. She is beautiful, highly intelligent, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu queen and an attorney in the Houston, Texas area. On top of all that, several years ago, she started making soap for her family, because, and this is the only thing we don't agree on, the woman doesn't like scented things.

What in the even heck, girl???

I always would see her soap bars stacked up on a shelf in her house, and I would think how cool she was, and how there was nothing the woman could not do. My husband loves her soap and affectionately calls it Allison's Hippie Soap. I finally got brave enough to ask her about it. She sent me information and was so great and supportive about me starting this soap experiment. I do make unscented soap, but you better believe most of them are scented. Take that, Allison!

  • Phase 1

Source moisturizing, sustainable ingredients and yummy scents.

  • Phase 2

Turn into a soap wizard over a super hot pot of oils, colorants, and silk. Depending on how things are going, there may be screaming or squealing.

  • Phase 3

Cut into bars and let them sit for 4 to 6 weeks to make sure you get a solid, long lasting bar.
